VISION

Deenabandhu has a vision of a world in which every child is educated, valued and empowered. Children who are nurtured and respected have a positive self image and self esteem which enables them to become self sufficient and to be leaders in their community. 

MISSION

Deenabandhu:
• rehabilitates orphaned, estranged children and provides them with a loving home
• ensures the children learn life orientated vocational skills so they may become economically self sufficient
• encourages the development of their personality and a respect for their culture through art and music

GEOGRAPHICAL DESCRIPTION OF DEENABANDHU HOME 

Chamarajanagar is rural in characteristics though it has been recently declared as a district. Chamarajanagar town is surrounded by a cluster of villages covering 1224 sq kms and has a population of 60,558 people. The literacy rate (52%) in Chamarajanagar is the second lowest for the State of Karnataka.Chamarajanagar is a border district between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu States, South India. It receives an average of 580 mm of rainfall which is below the average rainfall in Karnataka.

DEENABANDHU CHILDREN’S HOME – Background and Update

The Deenabandhu home for boys was started with six boys in the year 1992. The children were placed in rented premises under the care of a house mother and a cook. The Honorary Secretary of the organization was living with the children and in charge of their overall development.

OBJECTIVES OF THE CHILDREN’S HOME

• Primarily to give children a stress-free, wholesome environment to achieve the full development of their personality – physical, mental, intellectual, moral and spiritual.

• To ensure the children have a good education up to high school. Later the children will be sent to college or will be provided with vocational training depending on their aptitude.

• They are taught self management skills and are encouraged to take responsibility of the younger ones in the home alongside the house mother.

• All the staff and trustees realise the importance of children developing a good self image and consequent self esteem. They have realised that the self image is pivotal in determining as how a child can adjust, perform well in school, love others and be loved. 

• From the age of 14 or 15 years the children are given different options for selecting their career. They are given an opportunity to meet other successful people and role models who are pursuing different careers.
